SEO is one of the factor to take into consideration if succeeding online is your aim. But it's not as easy as creating a blog :) Lol.
However, on the long run you may hire an SEO strategist, which I mentioned here as what you should do to get the right result. But there are some tips to consider before hiring a firm or individual to work for you.

#1. Professionalism and Transparency – ask yourself; "does the firm communicate exactly what they will do to your site to optimize it?", "And exactly how do they go about link building?" If they can’t provide detailed answers to these questions, my dear, stay clear.

#2. Portfolio – Do they have a portfolio of successful campaigns to prove that they have experience achieving good results for clients?
If they can't outline this proves, I would advice you to ignore it.

#3. Pricing – Do they fall within your budget? If not do they offer flexible packaging and pricing for your needs?
I found that SEO service providers who couldn’t flex to our needs often times were offering what seemed like crappy on site keyword stuffed content and spammy linkbuilding packages and no actual custom SEO work.

#4. Have an Incite of Their Link building Strategy - its not story that bad backlinks are like bad eggs, know the kind of backlinks they will build for your site or blog. The site Domain Authority (D.A), numbers of backlinks they will provide and how fast it will (here 40 backlinks daily is OK).
Note: avoid backlink from flagged sites, if not you may be flagged by Google also!
